Lapis is technically named Lapis Luzuli. It is mined mainly in Afganistan. Good Lapis has a very rich blue color. Most of the best and most accessable Lapis has been mined over the years. Older Lapis pieces and carvings are treasures because of the high quality of the Lapis material.
