Obsidian is basically petrified lava from volcanos in Mexico. It comes in plain black, gold, silver and rainbow. When it is carved well and light shines on it properly, layers of the different colors become obvious and are magnificent. We have acquired many beautiful works of art made from the many different types of Obsidian. Obsidian was also widely used by primitive man to make items with sharp edges.
