Peacock Marble

Country of Origin
Southwest China

Peacock Marble is from Southwest China and formed in Limestone by heat and pressure in the earth’s crust. Recrystallization during Himalaya formation caused the limestone to change in texture and makeup. Fossilized materials along with it’s original carbonate minerals, recrystallized and formed large, coarse grains of calcite. Impurities present in the limestone during the recrystallization affected the mineral composition of the marble.  The minerals that result from the impurities give the marble up to ten different colors.
